Exploration and Production

With AOC Strengthening and expanding the resource base is one of the Company’s strategic objectives. The sound resource base ensures the stability of production activities and achievement of targeted volumes of hydrocarbon production. The Company carries out a significant volume of exploration work, extends the portfolio of licenses showing stable replenishment of oil and gas reserves.

The Company’s fields and license blocks are located in various oil and gas provinces of Republic of Tatarstan and even further to some province of Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia. When conducting exploration, the Company pays considerable attention to the use of new technologies and equipment, and support of operations by research and development institutes as well as design institutes which makes it possible to increase its efficiency.

Oil Fields development & Oil and Gas Production

Upstream Operations

Astrakhan Oil (AOC) maintains active upstream participation across a diversified portfolio of producing assets and licensed blocks within the Astrakhan region, with extended operational alignment in select areas of Western and Eastern Siberia. Its upstream engagements are structured through a combination of direct participation, contractual arrangements, and strategic partnerships with local license holders and field operators, allowing AOC to balance operational control with commercial flexibility.

In the upstream sector, AOC is committed to sustaining stable production volumes while ensuring the efficient and responsible utilization of hydrocarbon resources. The Company’s operational philosophy is centered on maintaining equilibrium between economic performance and long-term reservoir integrity. This is achieved through the continued optimization of mature fields, the targeted development of hard-to-recover reserves, and the progressive advancement of promising assets that contribute to the establishment of new production centers.

In parallel, Astrakhan Oil continues to support energy efficiency and operational self-sufficiency through its alignment with power generation capabilities associated with its processing and refining activities. By integrating gas utilization with energy generation, the Company enhances overall asset efficiency while reducing operational waste and environmental impact.

AOC maintains a continuous program of modernization across its refining and processing interfaces. Through its collaboration with refinery operators and downstream partners, the Company supports the implementation of phased technological upgrades aimed at improving process efficiency, enhancing product quality, and reducing operating costs. This approach also prioritizes industrial safety and environmental performance, ensuring that all operations remain aligned with evolving regulatory and technical standards.

Through the integration of gas processing, refining alignment, and energy optimization, Astrakhan Oil reinforces its position as a technically capable and operationally disciplined energy platform, capable of delivering value across multiple stages of the hydrocarbon lifecycle.

Over the years, Astrakhan Oil has maintained a consistent level of oil production, supported by a disciplined focus on improving recovery efficiency across its portfolio. Through the application of enhanced recovery techniques, modern reservoir management practices, and continuous field monitoring, AOC has been able to sustain production stability while incrementally increasing output performance.

The Company’s field development strategy is driven by ongoing investment in well operations and reservoir support systems. This includes the commissioning of new production wells, the implementation of water injection programs to maintain reservoir pressure, and the continuous optimization of well productivity and flow rates. These efforts collectively contribute to the long-term sustainability of production and the efficient extraction of reserves.

By integrating technical expertise with strategic partnerships and disciplined operational management, Astrakhan Oil reinforces its position as a reliable upstream participant with a stable production base. This upstream strength underpins the Company’s broader integrated model, ensuring consistent feedstock availability to support its downstream alignment and international trading activities.

Our Crude Oil & Gas Production Geometric and refining

Astrakhan Oil (AOC) places significant strategic emphasis on the development and optimization of its gas production, transportation, and processing activities, recognizing gas monetization as a critical component of an integrated hydrocarbon value chain.

Across its areas of operation within the Astrakhan region and associated upstream assets, AOC supports the efficient utilization of associated petroleum gas (APG) through the deployment of modern processing technologies and high-performance equipment. These systems are applied across both wholly participated fields and partner-operated assets, ensuring consistency in operational standards and maximizing recovery efficiency.

Gas processing forms a central pillar of AOC’s integrated infrastructure, supporting the collection, treatment, and conversion of associated gas into commercially viable products. The Company’s aligned processing facilities operate as advanced industrial complexes capable of producing dry stripped gas and a range of liquid hydrocarbons utilized across industrial and commercial sectors. These outputs are engineered to meet stringent quality benchmarks, in compliance with applicable technical standards within the Russia, as well as broader international specifications, including those recognized within the Eurasian Customs framework and European markets.

Drilling wells inside and outside the
Astrakhan region and West Siberia

Currently there are wells being constructed in Cheremshan-Bastryk, Tlyanchi-Tamakthe and the Samara Region. Outside the Republic of  There were 121 wells constructed and commissioned during 6 months of 2019 (93 wells for the same period of 2018), including:

Production drilling - 60 wells;  exploratory drilling - 3 wells , bitumen drilling - 58 wells.

Drilling on the Old Well Stock There were 31 wells commissioned in the category of sidetracks and horizontal wellbore drilling during 6 months of 2019 (21 wells during the same period of 2018).

For operational well work-over, the company has three coiled tubing complexes, with the help of which the wells are flushed from salts, asphalt-resinous paraffin deposits, hydrate plugs and sand. Also, using coiled tubing, perforation is performed due to fluid pressure.

AOC Group team
